How Not to Lose 20 Pounds in 8 Weeks

I tell this story to almost everyone I meet to determine how well they understand their own body.

Imagine two identical twins. Both twins need to lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks.

We apply the first rule of weight loss: Create a calorie deficit large enough to lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks.

Both twins: Eat the same number of calories and maintain the same calorie deficit.

The only difference is what they eat.

Twin One eats jellybeans.
Twin Two eats chicken breast and spinach.

Now, the important question. Which twin reaches her goal weight first?

It sounds logical. It is the healthier option.

But that answer is wrong.
